Mixed Level Belly Dance with Rachel Lazarus Soto
Mondays 10-11 am
This free form class will give you better isolations, an overview of bellydance styles, and a fun supportive atmosphere for working out or becoming a beautiful performer.
Strong to the Core with Politti Ashcraft
Mondays at 6:30-7:30 pm
This unique class begins with an energizing Pilates Mat based workout focusing on "core conditioning": the strengthening and stabilization of the abdominal, spine and pelvis. After our "mat-work", we will finish the class with isolated bellydance moves, from our head to our toes, to increase each dancers' strength, flexibility, coordination and muscle tone. Please bring your own Yoga mat and Thera-Band (if you have them) as a limited supply will be available at The Oasis. This class can be used as a complete warm up for the Tribal Basics Class.
Tribal Basics I with Politti Ashcraft
Mondays at 7:30-8:30 pm
The beginning class will introduce students to body isolations, basic movements from the Fat Chance Belly Dance format, and dancing as a group. Finger cymbals will be introduced, and integrated into beginning movements. Beginning students will begin to develop their finger cymbal skills, and learn to lead and follow all basic movements, before moving to the Tribal Basics II.
Intermediate Tribal with Blue Damsel
Tuesdays at 6:30-7:30 pm
This intermediate class will focus on combining beginning movements into more complex movements. Learn the basic tribal movements and cues and apply what you learn in class with improvisational group dance. Students should be proficient with finger cymbals. Focus is on proper technique and perfecting movements, including posture and hand/arm positioning, as well as cueing and following for advancement into performance prep.
Tribal Basics II with Rachel Lazarus Soto
Wednesdays at 6:30-7:30 pm
Building on Tribal Basics I, this class will add more steps from the Fat Chance Belly Dance format to your improvisational vocabulary, improve your isolations and movements, continue to develop your finger cymbals, and work towards more experience dancing in formation.
Damsel's Darlings with Rachel Lazarus Soto
"Hong Kong"
Wednesdays at 7:30-8:30 pm
This open call performance class will focus on poise, posture, and basic dance movements. We will improve your posture, flexibility, and teach you a fun choreography. This session will focus on an Asian-inspired choreography performed to Fabian's, "Hong Kong". We will perform this choreography Saturday March 1, at 8 pm, for the Super Saturdays Showcase at The Oasis, and at "Atomic Raq-it" March 2, between 1 and 4:30 pm, in Redlands, CA. Participants are required to purchase the costume at a fee of $35, due the second class of the session.
